Anlyn

Anlyn started her swimming career at the tender age of 3 years old when her Dad taught her how to swim, and he quickly noticed that she was very comfortable in the water and easily picked up new skills.

Her parents then enrolled her in a competitive swimming club at 8 years old after swimming coaches at my primary school encouraged her. She immediately fell in love with the sport. Attending practices every evening was fun and exciting, and she was so eager to learn every trick she could about swimming. Anlyn swam in regular school competitions, then club galas, and eventually national championships. She swam for Tygerberg Aquatics throughout her primary school and into high school.

In high school, Anlyn decided to join the waterpolo team. This became her new assignment, as she never played or even heard about the sport before. But she knew that her swimming background would be a great advantage. Anlyn was invited to join the school’s first team after 3 months of learning the sport and had the privilege of going on two tours to Knysna for their annual chukka festival where waterpolo matches are held in the harbour. Anlyn eventually went on to be the captain of the 1st team and in her matric year, and received the “Best Player“ award.

After high school, Anlyn realised that swimming is an essential life skill that everyone should have. She successfully completed the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) course in 2025 to encourage and help others learn how to swim and how to have fun while doing it.
