When Stars Swimming School was established in February 2004, it was born from a deep desire to share our love of swimming with friends and family. Having grown up around the water, we realized early on how swimming skills allowed us to have so much more fun at the beach or in the pool. We wanted to share those wonderful experiences with others so they, too, could embark on their own water adventures.
The Stars Story
Early on, it became apparent that much of the fun we had in the water stemmed from the process of learning to swim. Through swimming, we made friends, played water games, and explored a new art form, discovering what truly excited us as children.
We also recognized the importance of swimming as a vital life skill, which further grounded our belief that anyone—given the right instruction and access—could learn to swim and enjoy the benefits of being water-safe. It was clear that we had to share this joy and knowledge, and a swimming school provided the ideal platform for us to do so.
Rooted in our personal values is the mission to inspire and teach others to swim by creating a values-driven, authentic, and people-centric organization. Opening Stars Swimming School has turned this dream into a reality; as Cape Town’s first three-pool ‘Learn to Swim’ center, we offer an innovative program specifically developed to teach the fundamentals of swimming and water safety to everyone.

At Stars Swimming School, we understand that our team is the foundation of the culture and values we promote. The Stars family comprises a selection of passionate individuals who are both highly qualified to instruct ‘Learn to Swim’ and adept at running an organization built on sound business fundamentals. Our team includes former provincial and Springbok-level competitive swimmers, sports scientists, educators, and, of course, swimming enthusiasts. We believe in a holistic, creative approach to our family-run business, and this diversity underpins the excellence for which we strive.
It is an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to create something of our own while having fun doing what we love. We are immensely grateful for this opportunity, which you have made possible, and we understand our responsibility to stay true to our ethos of serving others.
