Tailored for Yacht Crews
Tailored for Yacht Crews

We’ve worked with training centres to develop a learn to swim programme to assists cabin crew candidates with passing their swim test aspect of their curriculum.

We recommend twice a week for Learn to Swim Swimming Lessons, but once per week would also be suitable.

Best suited for: Adult swimmers (generally over 18’s) who want to learn the skill of swimming from scratch. Swimmers might have very little previous exposure to water, and may even have a fear of water (which we’ll help them overcome).

Yacht crew members often need swimming lessons and certifications, especially if they plan to work with water sports activities. Several training academies in Cape Town, South Africa, offer courses like the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency and RYA Tender Operator Course, which are highly relevant for superyacht crew. These courses enhance skills in boat handling, towing, and instructing various watersports, making crew members more versatile and employable.

No pre-qualification swimming test during recruitment

While swimming ability is important, many carriers don’t require a swimming test during the initial recruitment process. However, it is a requirement to pass the swimming test during the licensing or onboarding training.

Our Adult Beginners for Cabin Crews lesson happens in our Middle Pool, which is around chest level (standing depth) throughout, and is a good size for learning the skills necessary to build a strong swimming foundation.

When can I start with my swimming lessons?

We’d love for you to start swimming as soon as possible, but you will need to first complete our Swimmer Registration Pack including Signup Form and Indemnity Form, and schedule your swimming lessons with our office, then you’ll be ready to start.

Am I not too old to learn to swim?

Learning has absolutely no age limit, and we encourage all swimmers to challenge themselves to take on new adventures and try new experiences.

Do you offer trial lessons?

We do not offer trial lessons as our Instructors invest time into each individual swimmer’s lesson plan and outcomes, but we do have a satisfaction guarantee, and you are welcome to pay after your first lesson.

Who will my instructor be?

Our qualified and highly experienced instructors each work on specific days of the week.

This means that you may experience more than one instructor if you’re coming for swimming lesson on different days of the week.

Our lesson plans are structured so that a similar weekly lesson outcome is achieved from all instructors, but may be delivered slightly differently depending on the instructor for the day.

We highly recommend trying multiple instructors, each with their unique strengths and teaching styles.

How much are the swimming lesson fees?

We have a 4, 8 or 24 lesson-package pricing structure. Please request a recent swimming lesson pricelist on our contact page, or using the form below.

How many swimmers are in one group lesson?

Swimmers are limited to a maximum of 3 per lesson in our Middle Pool.
We’ve found these class sizes offer maximum learning opportunity for swimmers through peer demonstration and rest time.
We do however try spread swimming lesson bookings evenly so that class sizes are limited.
We take health and safety recommendations and restrictions (e.g. Covid Protocols) seriously, and adhere strictly to all protocols.

How will you know which level of swimming I'm is best suited for?

Our admin staff will recommend a lesson type best suited to you, based on your swimming experience and stated previous swimming abilities, and during your first lesson our instructors will gauge if you are a good fit for the recommended lesson type.

If there is a mismatch, we would reschedule lessons to a swimming lesson type which suit your abilities.

We try out best to group swimmers with similar abilities, but cannot always guarantee correct placement, oftentimes also subject to swimmer’s availability.

Help! I'm going on holiday to turquoise oceans and crystal pools, but I can't swim!?

    Don’t stress.

Swimmers are welcome to come to as many swimming lesson per week as their time allows, and as long as we have lesson space.

This would be a swimming ‘crash course’ type of arrangement.

We say two lesson per week is optimal, but learning rates improve the more you practice.

You can take your newly acquired swimming abilities on holiday with you to show off your swimming skills on the beach or at the resorts, or just to simply chill and enjoy the water.

Can I book swimming lessons with my friends / siblings / family members?

Yes of course. We encourage learning new skills together with people with whom you are familiar.

We are happy to accommodate group bookings as long as our we have lesson availability (space) allows.

    Do you offer Aqua-Aerobics classes?

Yes, although we’re focussed on teaching Learn to Swim, we also offer an aqua aerobics class.
